A CNC router is generally used for machining softer materials such as wood, steel, composites, aluminum, foam, plastic, and more. They usually have a mechanical base, spindle, stepper motors, stepper drivers, controllers, and a power supply. They are capable of using all three dimensions and are available in various axes from three to six. They’re ideal for creating small projects and prototypes of designs, whether simple or complex. CNC Plasma Cutting Machines
CNC plasma cutting machines use a high-powered plasma torch to cut through tough electrically conductive materials such as brass, copper, aluminum, titanium, steel, and stainless steel. The torch is produced by passing a high-velocity gas through a nozzle to create an electric arc. The arc forms through the high-velocity gas and jumps onto the material being cut, converting an amount of the high-velocity gas into plasma (electronically ionized gas).
Although similar to a handheld, gas-powered torch, a CNC plasma cutting machine can reach temperatures up to 50,000°F.

Machinable Wax
To help save time and money when training new CNC students, machinable wax is a great alternative to metal, plastic, and wood. It’s just as stable and safe, plus it’s reclaimable and less risky. Since it is self-lubricating and non-abrasive, you won’t need to spend money on messy coolants or lubricants, and it won’t fuse when machined at high-end spindle RPMs and feed rates.
Machinable wax is not cellular or grainy so voids and tool wear are minimal and it won’t gum up on tool bits. You’ll end up with a dimensionally accurate prototype for checking and proofing before completing the project on the final material.
