Metalworking Tools

When it comes to outfitting your metalworking shop, having a variety of tools will give students a well-rounded experience so they’re fully prepared for whatever life brings them. Choose from basic metalworking tools such as calipers and dividers, to metalworking hand tools such as tweezers, tinner snips, and aviation snips. When students are ready to try advanced tools for metalworking, look for gauges, rivet setters, rivets, back-up washers, and riveters. You’ll also need to look for an anvil tool, steel stamp sets, punch and die sets, notchers, brass stencils, and measurement tools.

Metalwork Supplies

Having a consistent stock of supplies on hand enables students to keep learning, lesson plans to stay on track, and projects meeting their deadlines. To keep all this moving, it’s best to place a refill order before you run out, and buy in bulk. Common metalwork supplies to have on-hand include: rust remover; layout fluid; hot rolled strips, bands, and angles; cold rolled rounds, threaded and drill rods.

Although woodworking and metalworking may both use a drill press, a drill press for metalworking will run slower but with higher torque. Everything about it will be more heavy duty. Metalworking Bench

Any metalworking classroom will easily take on more wear and tear than a home shop, so it’s always a good idea to purchase the most durable tools. A metalwork bench is designed to be sturdy, strong, and stable for heavy duty applications. It will have a much higher load resistance, making it ideal for welding, grinding, and light castings. Integrated vises and clamps make it easy to hold metalwork parts while in the middle of a project.
